Satterlee Load Test
This tool guides you through a Satterlee-style ladder test to help identify a stable velocity node for your rifle. You will increase powder charges in small increments, fire one shot per step over a chronograph, and observe where the velocity curve begins to flatten. For more background on the method, see our detailed write-up on the blog.
Begin by selecting your cartridge and bullet. Next, define your ladder steps. After you record velocities at the range, return here to enter your data and we will chart the results and highlight potential nodes. Always verify your work against published load data and advance carefully as you approach maximum charges. Stop immediately if your brass shows any signs of pressure!
Step 1:
Satterlee tests commonly use small charge increments over a short series of steps. This tool will generate a simple 10-step ladder as a starting point.
